London Art Fair 2017 with GBS Fine Art 18 - 22 January 2017

I'm very pleased to be showing a new group of small oil paintings on wood from the Space Series at London Art Fair this year, to accompany two larger landscapes on canvas. Once Upon A Time II is the larger of the two canvases and was shown at the RWA in 'Imagined Landscapes' in 2016. The other painting 'Night Light' is a new piece being exhibited for the first time.

GBS Fine Art can be found on Stand 29 of the Main Fair

The fair opens on Wednesday the 18th until the 22nd of January at the Business Design Centre, Upper Street, Islington N1.

Complimentary tickets are available to the Fair if you'd like to contact me via email.

Hughie O'Donoghue RA Studio Visit with NOA15

In May I was lucky enough to be invited to visit Hughie O'Donoghue RA in his London studio. Hughie was guest curator of NOA15 and, having long been an admirer of his beautiful paintings, I was selected to visit his studio and see his powerful new body of work with Cloe and Kate from the NOA team. It was a great opportunity to explore his working practice and a fascinating and memorable visit.

Huge thanks to Hughie O'Donoghue and NOA for making it possible.

IMAGINED LANDSCAPES exhibition at the RWA in Bristol 6 February - 12 June 2016

I am delighted to be exhibiting in Imagined Landscapes at the Royal West of England Academy from February until June. Included in the show will be a new large scale canvas, 'Once upon a time II', alongside a group of nine miniatures on wood made between 2012 and 2016.

Imagined Landscapes explores an alternative understanding of place in contemporary art and the role of the artist as spatial narrator, cartographer and geographer.

This multi-disciplinary group exhibition visits imaginary and real spaces, where myth and memory blend and landscapes are mapped, re-imagined and collaged back together. Through fictional topographies, ancient sites and transparent borders, the exhibition explores our relationship to place, both real and imagined.

Some artists furrow through the land, extracting a sense of place from the ground itself, or use feathers, stone and chalk to evoke the physical history of a site. On the surface, these imagined landscapes reveal traces, marks and pathways, creating fissures in the land where histories are revived and new stories are created.

Featured artists include: Jethro Brice, Iain Biggs RWA, Stephen Felmingham, Seila Fernandez Arconada, Paul Fieldsend-Danks, Paul Gough RWA, Lydia Halcrow, Tim Harrisson RWA, Rae Hicks, Eileen Lawrence RSA, Will Mclean, Gill Rocca, Melanie Rose, Jem Southam and Veronica Vickery.
