THE HARE'S CORNERThe Hare's Corner Series draws influence from folklore and explores the idea of the wood as a narrative setting. A childhood place to explore becomes a habitat with its own rules - not to be visited alone, or after dusk - both innocent and sinister. The title of this new body of work refers to the old Irish tradition of leaving a corner of the field uncut for the hare to escape to. In allowing the wild hare - the 'shape shifter' - refuge, The Hare's Corner represents a metaphorical escape into the imagination, luring the viewer into the hidden inner world of the wood. |
