LANDSCAPES

Recent paintings explore the liminal in time and space; a point of flux and transformation; placeless places. The transformative quality of twilight offers to turn the landscape into something otherworldly. Snow covered forest paths and still lakes edged by dark woods tempt the desire to enter. The paintings draw upon memory and invention to present an elusive reality.

New landscapes influenced by time spent in Japan in 2009 reference 19th C. silver prints and the artists own collection of hand-tinted photographs and faded polaroids.
